For the love of Ringtones…

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE ringtones! They allow you to add a little personal expression to an otherwise boring, routine life function - the telephone ring… One of my best friends is a sassy female private investigator (yes, seriously!). Every time her cell phone rings, it plays the Pink Panther ringtone… The imagery cracks me up each time!  My husband is a physician, and we never know what kind of crazy emergency calls will come his way… And so it is only fitting that his cell phone plays the theme song from Mission Impossible.  You can’t imagine how the stress of that first few seconds of that song actually captures the stress we feel when his cell phone rings late at night — or on one of his few days off!

Me… I like to play around with my ringtones… I probably switch mine 2 or 3 times a month, just to keep things interesting. Currently, my ringtone is “Bringing Sexy Back” by Justin Timberlake.  I confess, I love the song… but that’s not why I love the ringtone…I love the ringtone because when I’m at Church or a PTA meeting… or picking up one of my kids from school… and the phone rings… I can’t help but  chuckle to myself about the very thought of me single-handedly “bringing sexy back…”  Me, a middle-aged mother of three…a full-time mom, web-geek and mobile content junkie…. I’m personally responsible for bringing back the sexy… and I love it!  I mean, who wouldn’t!?  Just think, if I can bring the sexy back, can you imagine what else i might have up my little mom sleeves? : )

And I guess I’m not the only one who loves ringtones! In fact, someone else loves them so much, that they spent a whopping $120,000 to purchase the domain name Ringtones.org at a recent auction in Florida! Yes, you heard that correctly, $120,000 (One hundred twenty thousand) US Dollars! Gosh, if the .org sold for $120,000 - I can only imagine what the dot com will sell for. Given how much I love ringtones, I’d better start saving up!
