Haiti Text Campaign Exceeds $10 Million
With the devastation of the earthquake in Haiti, AT&T stepped up to the plate and gave the US one of the most effective non-profit fundraising strategies I’ve ever seen. By simply text messaging the word “Haiti” to a predetermined number supplied for the Red Cross, AT&T allowed $10 to be sent to help the earthquake victims, which would be billed to your monthly phone bill.
So how effective has the campaign been? MobileCrunch has reported that the text messaging campaign has brought in over $10 million dollars in relief aid!
It’s great to see technology enabling people from around the nation to give to those in need, and hopefully this is just the beginning of efforts like this.
