iPhones Continues to Become a Video Broadcast Solution

Ustream and qik have been longtime leaders in the mobile broadcasting industry, however a new iPhone app is looking to take up quite a bit of marketshare. TwitCasting Live just launched a video broadcasting app that integrates mobile broadcasting with Twitter.

The app utilizes the iPhone’s camera on the top portion of the screen with your Twitter timeline in the bottom portion of the screen, allowing for you two have a full conversation with your followers during the broadcast. This sounds like a great solution for podcasters with a sizable Twitter following to engage fans on a more real-time level.

MobileCrunch had this to say about the app: “Tokyo-based Twitcasting provider sidefeed claims video latency is as low as 0.3-2.0 seconds in most countries, adding 750 concurrent viewers are the maximum the app can handle at the moment (although this number will be boosted to “a couple of thousands of viewers” next week). Launched in Japan first, the English version made its formal debut during a demo event from TechCrunch Japan last week. Sidefeed says they have accommodated over 50,000 live broadcasts (80% over 3G) in the first four weeks and that they’re currently thinking about an Android port.”
