(Mobi) Art that even I can Love!
I’m embarrassed to say that I’m not really big on art. I mean, it’s nice and all… but I’m just not one of those people who can be moved to tears by staring at a beautiful painting, sculpture or other artistic work. Sure, I’ll go to the museum with you when in London, Rome or New York — but mostly just for the bragging rights… The truth is, while everyone is taking their time studying and discussing the visual feast around them… I’m usually just plotting my escape and making plans for my next meal out. Hey - I didn’t say I was proud of it… I’m just being honest is all! But all that’s about to change… You see there’s a new Art in town… and I am loving it! Imagine it. Art delivered in byte-sized chunks… No need to go to a boring museum to enjoy it… or to try to figure out the historic context… This art is current and hip… It’s here and now - and it’s right in the palm of your hand… This art is mobile! Mobile Art… Now why didn’t I think of that? What a fun way for digital creative types to make their mark on the world! Using the until-now-mundane cell phone display screen as a their canvas, hundreds of digital artists are making their mark on the mobile world…My favorite site for mobile art is www.StartMobile.com, which sells urban-inspired, downloadable wallpapers from more than a hundred of digital artists - for about two bucks a pop. Here’s a work from one of my favorite Mobile Artists – Kirsten Ulve, from New York City. This is the one I’ve got on my screen right now…Now this, my friends, is high art….

According to her bio, it was Kirsten’s “early obsession with Lite Brite, puppets and discotheques” that contributed to the style and subject matter of her digital art. Now that’s my kind of girl! Here are a few more of Kirsten’s portfolio pieces. As you’ll see, she’s got a little something for everyone! Even the most macho man in your life will fall for this gritty character…

“My Name is Mr. T, and I want to be on your mobi…”
Here’s one for the kids… (or for you, if you love happy, singing frogs…)

And here’s one just for the ladies…. It’s so very Carrie Bradshaw. Why not download this one in honor of the blockbuster release of Sex and the City this week?
