Swype Speeds Up Mobile Typing
What has always been the #1 complaint about smartphones? The complaint I’ve heard the most is the poor typing functionality, especially when it comes to the iPhone. However there is a company that is looking to change the way we interact with mobile devices called Swype. Swype launched last year at the TechCrunch50 and impressed the crowd with a new typing technology that allowed the user to type much faster than we’ve ever seen before.
The company announced last month that they were launching support for the Samsung Omnia II mobile device, which is a Windows Mobile phone. However they announced that the application will be available for Android devices by the first quarter of 2010. As exciting as this is for phones, this could be a game changing technology for the ever increasing web tablets. The main issue I have yet to purchase a tablet is because of the lack of a physical keyboard, however with the Swype technology, I could potentialy type even faster on the tablet than my laptop!
