RIM Promises to Address Security Issues

CitySpur.com has reported that in response to a threat from the United Arab Emirates to close BlackBerry services in the Middle Eastern country, Research in Motion promised foreign governments on Monday to address security concerns. The UAE government ordered wireless carriers in the country to place a blackout on BlackBerry Messenger and email services on Oct. 11 unless it is allowed to monitor the encrypted messages sent through the smartphone. The Saudi Arabian government followed UAE’s example and threatened to ban BlackBerrys in their country.

Photobucket Goes to Blackberry

Photobucket announced this past weekend that its “Photobucket Mobile” application is available now in RIM’s BlackBerry App World. The service puts users’ images at their fingertips, allowing them to interact with their Photobucket albums no matter where they are right from their phone. Users can upload and download photos to and from the site, browse Photobucket’s popular “Find Stuff” content categories, and search through over seven billion images and photos.

Okay, how’s this for cool…  Blackberry users can now use their BlackBerry as a wireless modem, thanks to a great software application called MobiShark.  If you have a BlackBerry and a Laptop, MobiShark lets you configure your BlackBerry to be used as a modem - so you can be surfing the Internet from wherever you are on your laptop.
