Teens are Buzzing about Mosquito Ringtones …
There’s a new kind of ringtone that’s creating quite a buzz among teens and tweens…. It’s called “the mosquito”… And if you’re wondering why you’ve never heard of it — it’s probably because you’ve never heard it! Mosquito ringtones typically start at a pitch of 8 kilohertz, which most “grown-ups” like us can hear… But the frequencies get higher and higher — making it harder and harder for “old” folks (well — anyone in their twenties and beyond) to hear… Crafty students are using the high-pitched tones to communicate with each other during class (when their phones should be turned off) and in other situations where it’s important to operate in stealth mode… There are different Mosquito tones kids can download depending on their age group — and most of them are free. Like the insects they were named after, when you hear them — mosquito ringtones are far from pleasant on the ear… Unfortunately, you’ll need more than a fly swatter to get rid of these pesky mosquitos!
