The Pros and Cons of Buying a Nexus One
Despite its low sales number, Google’s Nexus One mobile device has received more buzz than any smartphone next to the iPhone in recent history. And it may be for good reason, the new Android device has a number of positive benefits over its competitors and I thought JkOnTheRun did a great job of establishing some of the pros and cons of the device, I’ve placed them below:
Pros:
- Quick startup of the device
- Turns completely off in under 6 seconds
- Phone doesn’t have to be ‘On’ while charging
- Blinking notifications
- Multi-tasking (apps can run in the background)
- Incredible Gmail integration
- Voice to text application
- Seamless integration with 3rd party apps like Picasa and Facebook
- Decent quality 720×480 videos
- Very fast operating system
- Impressive Google maps integration
- Great Google Voice integration
- Contact syncing with Facebook
- High quality feel for the device
Cons:
- Too easy to turn phone off accidentally
- Loss of 3G support quite often
- Device buttons can be difficult to use
- Easy to smudge screen
- Display can be difficult to see in sunlight
- Battery doesn’t last long enough
- Browser issues in portrait mode
- Lack of multi-touch
